Colorado's Highest Mountain Peaks

Colorado has 54 peaks that are "14ers". Mount Albert is the tallest at 14,443 ft above sea level. It is #17 in the list of USA tallest peaks. Mnt. McKinley is USA's tallest at 20,320’ located in Alaska. Here is the Colorado list of the 54 tallest peaks:

1.       Mount Albert 14,443’ – drive south from Leadville on U.S. 24 and look for a right turn onto Colorado 300. After a short distance you will make a left onto County Road 11. After about a mile look for a sign for the Halfmoon Campground. Here you will turn right onto a dirt road and drive for about five miles to the trailhead on the left.

2.      Mount Massive 14,421’

3.      Mount Harvard 14,420’

4.      Blanca Peak 14,345’

5.      La Plata Peak 14,336’

6.      Uncompahgre Peak 14,309’

7.      Crestone Peak 14,294’

8.      Mount Lincoln 14,286’ – in Alma take Kite Lake Road up to Windy Ridge Road to Mineral Park Mine on Mount Bross.

9.      Gray’s Peak 14,270 - off I-70 take exit 221 at Bakerville & drive up the 4WD road to the Stevens Gulch Trailhead.

10.  Mount Antero 14,269’

11.  Torreys Peak 14,267’ - off I-70 take exit 221 at Bakerville & drive up the 4WD road to the Stevens Gulch Trailhead.

12.  Castle Peak 14,265’

13.  Quandry Peak 14,265’ – in Blue River just south of Breckenridge turn on Blue Lakes Road off Hwy 9 to get to the trailhead.

14.  Mount Evans 14,264’

15.  Longs Peak 14,256’

16.  Mount Wilson 14,246’

17.  Mount Shavano 14,229’

18.  Mount Princeton 14,197’

From Leadville take U.S. 24 south for about 19 miles from the junction of routes 6 & 24 just north of Leadville. Turn right onto County Rd. 390 and continue for about 12 miles to the ghost town of Winfield.
