The golf course opened in 1985 with 18-holes. Then in the summer of 2001 the town of Breckenridge opened another 9 holes named the new Elk nine offering more elevation change than the original Bear and Beaver nines. With each course offering four sets of tees you can pick your challenge equal to your game. Many honors have been awarded by the Colorado Golfer newspaper stating the Breckenridge Golf Course is the Best Mountain Course and The Toughest Mountain Course. The golf course sits at 9,324 feet above sea level with temperatures ranging from 65 to 80 degrees which makes it a great place to come and escape summer heat and humidity.
